# Panelists

In ApplyCycle, staff add panelist accounts by selecting the Panelist role when creating a user. Panelists review the applications assigned to them. Staff can filter the People page by Role to find panelist accounts for editing. Staff can also block accounts when panelists are no longer active.

Panelists read and score the applications assigned to them. An application is assigned to a panelist when the application's panelists include them.

## Adding a Panelist

Add a new panelist at **People** > **Add a new user**.

- Enter the panelist's email address.
- Enter a strong password into the password fields. The panelist can change their password later.
- Keep the account status set to **Active**. Blocked users cannot log into the site.
- Check **Panelist** for the user role.
- Check **Notify user of new account** to send the panelist an email that lets them log in and change their password.
- Press **Create new account** to save the panelist account.

## Editing a Panelist

You may need to edit a panelist's account if their email address changes or they are no longer active. Find the account on the **People** page, which lists all user accounts. Filter by **Role** to see accounts with the **Panelist** role, then press **Edit** on the account.

If the panelist is no longer active, change their account status to **Blocked**. This keeps their history on your site and prevents them from logging in.

A panelist who forgets their password can request a new password by email from the **Request a new password** tab on the user login page.

## Using the Site as a Panelist

After logging in, panelists land on **Applications review**, a table of the applications assigned to them. They can filter by **Reviewing Status** or **Grant Cycle**.

**Reviewing Applications**

Select **Review Application** to open the review form in a side panel. Enter a **Score**, which saves automatically when changed. The panel also shows the application's comments.

**Mark as Reviewed** lets a panelist track which applications they have finished. It also saves automatically.

**Navigating Applications**

The navigation controls appear only when the application's status has **Reviewers can View** checked. This setting does not control whether a panelist can open or score an application.

**Previous application** and **Next application** move through the panelist's own assigned applications, grouped by cycle and ordered by Application ID. Application IDs are not required; applications without one come last.

**Jump to Application** lists all of the panelist's assigned applications, grouped by cycle, and takes them directly to their selection.

**Assigning Panelists to Applications**

Staff add applications and panelist users to a panel. ApplyCycle then sets each application's panelists to that panel's members. Staff can also edit the **Reviewers** field on the application's **Admin Only** tab or change the **Panelists** column in **Bulk Editing**.

**View all applications** returns to **Applications review**. Panelists listed in a cycle's own **Panelists** field can also open that cycle's **Approved for Review** tab. It lists the cycle's applications whose status has **Reviewers can View** checked and marks the panelist's own in the **My Assigned** column.
